---Update---

Still no guitar :(

Contacted MF on last Friday morning and spoke with UPS in the afternoon.

I just had a quick chat with MF and was told to wait until UPS is done with the tracing. The investigation will take 8 to 10 business days.
There is nothing MF can do until around 4/11 - 4/14.

I had an issue with FedEx recently. It was only a $50 item, and the tracking said delivered, while none of my neighbors got the package, but I feared that it was stolen.

I called them and they set up a trace. I did not hear from them for a few days but it was then delivered by USPS (I think it was just a mixup).

Still, I have nothing but issues with FedEx... like 50% of the time something screws up.. never UPS though.

I have shipped alot of gear. UPS and Fedex say that anything over $500 in value absolutely requires a signature. Musician's Friend must be exempted from that policy. They have never required it for any item, no matter the value.

I know this is tainting the excitement of a new guitar but I think you need to be patient on this one. You should have a lot of protection on your side. It's not like you're buying this from a private seller. I would expect MF will make you whole. If not I assume you paid with CC and have that protection as well.

had this happen to me, the driver had signed for it himself and then made up a story about a non descript teenager at my house signing for it, I got the item but the police nearly got called.

do they leave attempted delivery cards ? if so you should have one stating who signed for the item.

I wouldn't wait

I can't believe a Shipping/Delivery company would leave any kind of package at the door!
Let alone a big item like a guitar, probably in a Gibson box.
It should just be in the "rules and policies for drivers".
You do that, you're fired. Period.

I don't think a carrier should be given any business if they can't "deliver", pun intended.

So in this case, both UPS and Musician's Friend are guilty.
UPS for having careless ways and Musician's Friend for using their service,
even if it's been known for a long time that UPS f*cks up that way.

That is all.

And all my Best to Flat5th.
I hope somehow they find the guitar in the dope head driver truck.

That package was likely shipped via Fedex SmartPost:

I'm not sure of the exact threshold, and don't quote me - I think it is $2000 of value before MF requires a signature.

$1200 package recently was left on my door stop.

What Justin said!

And I would contact my credit card company IMMEDIATELY! I always like to use my AmEx when ordering things. If something is wrong with the order, they have been very good at resolving the matter.

---UPDATE---

Still no guitar… This is getting very ugly.

3/26/2016 Ordered a Les Paul
3/28/2016 Guitar was shipped from the warehouse
3/31/2016 Tracking # showed that the guitar was delivered (it was left at the side door.) Nobody was at home at the time of delivery. After I came back home from the work, I looked everywhere but nothing.
4/1/2016 Contacted MusiciansFriend. MF opened an investigation with UPS to trace the guitar. Later afternoon, UPS agent from the headquarter called me and gather all the necessary information from me. I was told that the local UPS will give me a call shortly.
4/4/2016 Contacted MusiciansFriend once again to check the status. I was told to wait 8 to 10 business and check back. Opened a dispute with the credit card company on that day.
4/9/2016 Never received any calls from local UPS and was getting very anxious. Contacted MF once again, and the agent from MF informed me that the UPS investigation was closed two days ago (4/7/2016.) Reason for closing: Local UPS called me and checked that I found the guitar... I assume the Local UPS just closed a case by making up a story on their end. WTF?

So, another investigation was just opened. I will be calling local UPS today.

If you have to deal with MusiciansFriend.com for any issues with your order, you need to be proactive. They will ask you be patient and wait. They will never get back to you to update the status. They don’t seem to understand that they are partially responsible for all this headache. They should've offer a signature required delivery at the first place.

I'd be screaming to someone at UPS for fabricating a total BS - CYA Story.
" Sure I overlooked a box that is 48x18x10 inches at my side door ".

Musicians' Friend is cost cutting - signature required costs a few $ more. Playing the odds at the expense of your nerves.

Total BS that someone at UPS fabricated a story to close the case :mad2:.

Hope things start to turn around with all of this for you and that some people are held accountable.

Could the driver have taken it and have a UPS friend cover it up?
