Hi all.

I finally ordered my first Gibson from musiciansfriend.
The guitar was shipped via UPS Ground on Monday, and today was the scheduled delivery day.

Unfortunately nobody was at home until late night. I expected that UPS guy will re-deliver it tomorrow. However when I checked the tracking number from work, the tracking number showed that the package was left at the door

I got home at 8PM and nothing was left at the door. I looked everywhere, asked my neighbors, no luck.

The price of the guitar was $1,200. I expected that it will be a signature required delivery. I will wait few more days and hopefully I can find my guitar.

If guitar was lost or stolen, what will be the best way to resolve this problem? Will MF ship the guitar again? Should I contact UPS for the reimbursement? This never happened to me.

Any opinions are much appreciated.
Thank you.

I'd probably contact MF and UPS ASAP if tracking says it was left at the door.

I've actually had stuff in the mail show that it was delivered based on the tracking (USPS), only to actually be delivered a few days later, but that's probably uncommon.

Hope things work out for you.

I've been through this with fed-ex. I would get a hold of your local UPS office, give them your info and have them contact the driver on your route. It could have been an error and it is still in his truck. Just follow up with them. Hope it gets resolved man, that really sucks.

If possible, you should always have a second "care-of" address available, in case you're not home. Your best bet would be to call UPS and find out if it's on a truck, or in their warehouse.

A few years ago, I ordered a Fender Strat from them, and the UPS driver tried to deliver it three times while I was at work. Ended up having to go to the nearest distribution center to pick it up, and sure enough, it was on one of the trucks.

Good luck.

Thank you all. I will contact tomorrow afternoon. This was my very first new guitar purchase (only owned used guitars so far) and this happened :(

Did you check around your entry property to make sure it wasn't left anywhere on your property?

I have had this happen once with fedex when the driver left the package at a similar address a block away and caught his own mistake and once with USPS who left us a package for someone a block a way and so I took the package to that address and found mine there on their porch...:wow:

Hope you find it. I always have all my gear delivered to my work address. There is always someone there to receive it and UPS knows exactly what hours we are open and where to take the package...

Call Them ASAP...

Call both MF and UPS and let them know. UPS probably still has it, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Same thing has happened to me twice with other items. Both times UPS still had the package and delivered it later.

UPS has a "Hold for Pickup" option. I've done that for expensive items so they don't get left on my doorstep. They will just contact you when it's in, and you have to go pick it up from their warehouse.

had an inexpensive acoustic for my niece delivered via UPS , from MF this way

they just left it on the back porch in the plain view of other neighbors !
I was actually surprised that nobody came and took it

the way that it was packed , it was very obviously a guitar . my glad that everyone had their fill of crack that day
