This is rather strange and definitely different. Hope it hasn't been covered already?

That's pretty awesome, though I bet he still has dot markers on the side! :laugh2:

Have you ever played a fretless guitar or bass?

It really showed me how much I take frets and inlays for granted.

I've played a fretless bass. Awesome sound...a little odd, though, in the hands.

Even when not looking, and "knowing what it sounds like", I didn't realize how much I took that tactile feel for granted. Doing slides, shifting...you don't realize it (or at least I didn't) but you count on having that bump. For me, it made it easier to "keep count", while playing...and not having to look at the neck.

VERY cool, if you can get used to it.
I didn't have enough time with it to get the chance.

This custom Dean with a fretless full ebony board is my only bass. It does have side dots on it though. Intonation is the toughest part of fretless, roll your fingers just a bit, and the intonation at the fret marker is gone. I took this picture when I went to pick it up at the factory.

I made a Les Paul Custom fretless once in the 70's because I was high. :laugh2:

It needed a fret job really bad, so I grabbed a stone and some oil one night and rubbed them down to almost tin foil. It was pretty cool to play, but I made the mistake of taking it to the guitar shop one afternoon. I had to sit there the whole day while all of my friends took turns playing it. :dude:

Everyone thought it was pretty cool... but they would never own one. :laugh2:

Impressive. I would never sound that spot on without frets.

I want to see him play a keyless piano, then I'll be impressed.

Lol, back at one point all the keys were the same size and the same color on the piano.

My not happy that lil bro was gonna play too brother filed the frets off of my first guitar.
That and early childhood Allmans is what I credit my slide playing to.
