Just came across the thread as I've been caught in a cross-country move. My wife is one of the finest, generous I know. To lose her would be the end for me. I can only imagine what it must be for her loved ones. Prayers and positive thoughts on the way.

The news today is even more miraculous --

Becky is doing a little better today, from a message her husband posted-Her heart rate is a little higher than they would like, and she has a slight fever--She has tried to speak, but is on a ventilator. She mouthed the word "drink" because she was thirsty-

I am sure there is a long road ahead for this family, but I am sure they are up for it---

Here are a couple of updates from people that have been with the family, at the hospital -

"Becky is continuing to get stronger and is really not liking the ventilator. The ventilator is still assisting her from time to time so it must remain for now. Her fever has improved as it has lowered to 100 F now. Keep giving thanks and praying!"

"Praise God!! Becky passed her neuro test today with flying colors! The neurologist said he expects 100% recovery!!"

To say this is amazing, is an understatement-Considering on Monday night, the family was told that there was no brain activity, and that she would not recover-

To say I am happy, is well, true---:)

This is the latest update from Becky's husband-

... Have been in Becky's room for the past couple of hours arm wrestling her so she won't pull out her breathing tube. Kelly, our wonderful nurse (she is from North Putnam), tried all afternoon to contact the doctor to come see her. Unfortunately he left his pager in a bathroom, so he didn't get the message. The bad news from all of this is that she is definitely ready to get that tube out, but now it has to wait until tomorrow.

As we were waiting for the doctor, Kelly diminished the amount of sedative so she would be alert when the doctor came. That way he could see she was ready to get off the ventilator. We witnessed a very active, at times squirmy, Becky during this time. She tried to communicate using sign language, but got frustrated when we couldn't make out what she was saying. She even shrivelled up her brow like she does when she's upset with me, so I am very encouraged that her personality has remained intact.

Since the tube won't come out tonight, Kelly will increase the sedatives so she will settle down and rest through the night. I would be shocked if she is not breathing 100% on her own sometime tomorrow morning.

No fever, bp is great, heart rate is great. God, you have performed a miracle, and we are truly grateful for it.

Please continue to pray for patience and continued improvement.

My aunt is doing almost the same, she just got off the ventalating
tube yesterday was up eating last night, and today she even
was able to go out for a stroll around the hospital in her chair.
They think she will be well enough for home care by the end
of the week.

Just a week ago, her son almost gave the ok to take her off
of life support, now she is up and around.

I have a special Brazilian classical guitar ballad I'll play right now for her. I always think of it as a meditative/prayer type piece.

This is one of those situations that should make all of us rethink what is happening when a doctor is telling you to, or puting pressure on you, to remove lifesupport from a loved one shortly after they are placed on it. I realize that many times, people are gone, but still living through a machine. When this is the case and all options have been utilized, then we should stand by the families decisions. I think we should take this time to realize that we should always trust ourselves when making these decisions and not allow anybody to talk us into rushing into such an important decision.

Originally, the doctors were telling this man that there was no hope for his wife and she would not recover-That they should make plans for the worse and prepare to remove her from life support-
