First of all sorry if this is in the wrong section I wasn't sure where to put it!

What would be the best solution for switching between my Marshall and Orange amps please? I'm new to the A/B switching method and don't honestly know where to start! I'm not sure what is available in the U.K for such a set up so any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

I had a Radial Twin-City ABY Amp Switcher when I had 2 amps ... it was pretty awesome

If you just want to toggle between amps and not run them together, then any 3p2t switching box will work. You might get a little pop, but it's the same as plugging in your guitar with the amp plugged in.
For jams it's fine, but for stage/studio work you might want to spend a little more.

If you're goal is to ever experiment with 'tone-stacking', buy a decent ABY like the Radial Twin-City. However, for an either/or setup, M&M's solution will work fine.

if you look at a-b-y switch on e-bay they sell em all day long. and they are pretty cool..you can use them to a-b 2 different amps, as you wish to. or use it to a-b 2 separate channels in the same amp. Or, you can have 2 guitars plugged into an amp with 1 input, and not have to unplug to use the other.
a fun little gadget:thumb:

I have and use a ABS-520/A-B Box. These are true bypass boxes, and unique in that each A and B have seperate ch levels. It is interesting in that there is a usefulness in the ability to independently control each ch volume seperately.
It is a well made unit, with the usual single input, and A/B outs with a good stomp button on that sucker too.
It has 9volt external power connection, and battery i guess. Didn't open it up.

Damn good unit, and quite as well.
I like it.

Like the OP I am also wanting to switch between my Orange and Marshall. Perhaps I can piggyback my question here and help him in the process. I want to switch between them and I have two choices. A Whirlwind AB and a Radial AB. The Whirlwind takes a 9V and the Radial looks passive but has optional switches. Anyone have experiences with these? What are the ISO, lift and 180 degrees do?

After looking up information on the whirlwind I can safely say that is exactly what I'm after, the only thing is it's not available in the U.K! If I can find something similar that would be great. I like the fact that when you are in A&B an led will flash to let you know wether you are in A or B when you exit the A&B function if that makes sense!

I'll try them out and let you know how it goes. I agree the led indicators are a nice touch.

Yea that Radial is supposed to be really nice but if you want a passive one (no battery OR adapter required) then go for a Loop-Masters AB switch or ABY switch. I have one of each. They are small (mini-pedal size) gray boxes that work perfectly / simply, no issues here!

Lift is a ground switch for channel B, 180 to make sure the amps are in phase, ISO isolates signal B from A in the event of ground loops. I think these features are particularly useful for older amps, newer ones not so much. :thumb:

The 'lift' switch lifts the earth on one of the outputs. It leaves you safe because you still have the protection of the earth on the other output, but it gets rid of hum from ground loops.

The 180 switch lets you reverse the phase of one output. This is so you can ensure your amps are in phase. Very important.

Dunno what ISO does.

Fulltone makes a A/B-Y box. I haven't used one but I like what I've read and heard. Currently I have a Radial Bigshot that works quite nicely.

ISO isolates the two channels by running channel B through a transformer to eliminate ground loops.

So it seems the Radial AB may be the more flexible choice.
