Is anybody able to positively confirm what pots are in a 57 reissue LP, mine is a 2007. I was able to get a reading with a meter on the tone pots they are 500k but I dont know if they are audio or linear. The volume pots I have no idea what they are.

All 4 pots are 500k and audio? Yes I knew it was modern wiring which I thought strange being its a 57 reissue, but Im glad cuz modern wiring sounds better.

Linear and all 500K. 2009 is when they changed to audio taper and 50s wiring.

No kidding? I could have sworn my R7 was audio taper from that year. Thanks for the correction, Tim :)

At any rate, the stock Gibson pots from that era were pretty poor...

Is there a way to know which I have? Is there a sound difference between linear and audio or just when you dial them down?

I have another LP I want to rewire just like my 57. This is what I've currently got in it, 500k CTS pots I forget if they were audio or linear. Maybe I dont have to change anything except that one cap and the pickups.

Interesting enough, my 2013 SG Standard has 300k linear volume pots and 500k audio tone pots, theyve got the Gibson serial numbers right on them.

IMHO nothing to change here, 50's wiring, all audio pots and 'woman tone' (0.015 cap neck pot and 0.022 cap bridge )

Just dialing them down. Linear has no usable taper are are basically like on/off switched somewhere around 3.

500K tone and 300K volume has been the norm with USAs for decades. They started using 500K all around more recently but I don't know what year.
