56 Goldtop neck profile?

I've done some thread searching on this, but is it a fact that the 56 Goldtops all had the slim neck profile?
I recently bought a 57 Classic Goldtop and have been converted to the chunky neck [and it really is incredibly deep and chunky, with even the neck binding virtually twice as wide as my Epi TransAmber LP] and would assume [to my limited knowledge] that a 56 neck would be similarly profiled. But it seems not.

Some pics of Epi Goldtops [generally] also look as if the top is a matte, flat gold without the sparkly speckling - is this just a light effect or are there these plain gold, unsparkly finishes, too?
Cheers. :)

I'm not sure exactly, Epiphone stopped production of the '56 GT for a while, it's possible some changes were made between the newer ones and the older ones. Mine had a nice chunky neck and the "sparkle" type finish. It was an 05 MIK, I believe.

The one I bought new a few weeks back has a "nice, chunky neck" too. Sorry, but I don't know the exact dimensions. BTW, the Epiphone web site shows this modes as "discontinued", so apparently they aren't making any more and music stores are just selling off their stock.

Mines a 2000 MIK model and it has a slim profile neck. I think it may be one of the earlier models because it's got a "Limted Edition" decal on he back of the headstock. Sorry for the bad pic.

My 2003 MIK 56gt is the same as my 2008 MIC Standard Plus, and both are a little bit smaller than my 2007 Elitist.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Looks like the relatively recent 56s are the best bet for Glorious Chunk.
It was only a fortuitous fluke that I ended up buying this deep 57 neck and discovered what a whacking great delight I've spent so long avoiding.

And contrarily, from picture evidence alone, I wonder if it's more likely that a 90s goldtop would have the non-speckled, flat gold colour.
