'53 intonation (caution, contains science)

In case anyone ever wondered, here's what the intonation looks like on a 1953 Les Paul.. You can see the "womwomwom" wobble (beat frequency) where the two notes are out of tune. I got the sounds from here (~8:00 to 10:00) and did some cutting and pasting in Audacity so the notes in question could be heard together (sound files are on box, accessible by clicking the images).

Open string and the pertinent fret on the string above played together:

Thanks for taking time and effort to post this, I really geek out on the science of guitars.

Thanks for the 'caution' in the title. Since Math is not my
thing and I can tolerate 'science' for a while, especially
the pretty colors, I decided to open this thread...
