congrats that's a unicorn - best Standard top I've ever seen. Looks like what you would get if you searched a long time for a perfect R9 top... to find it on a standard is quite killer.
Great looking guitar, mate! Welcome to the club!
I’ve always thought that my 2018 Standard HP finish looked much more like Iced Tea than the Bourbon Burst it was listed as. When those AAAA tops came out with the HP line, I was just certain that I wanted one in that finish, whether it was called Bourbon Burst or Iced Tea. I really liked the Blueberry Burst too but I wasn’t buying two of them and the Blueberry seemed a little novel and I did want at least a more traditional finish since I was already buying a very modern style LP in the HP. Anyway, here’s mine:Happily I came across a stunning top in my travels that I was so excited to own. It's listed as a 2021 Limited Run (or Exclusive Finish) AAA Top, but I see a few stores had them (Sweetwater, Long and McQuade) so I'm not so sure about the exclusivity...?
That being said, they vary quite a bit in the flame.
I just love the workmanship and playability of a Gibson, and I'm so pleased to finally get a top that checks all the right boxes for me finish-wise.![]()
Actually - not a bad suggestion! If money were no object, I would love that. I do covet the aged nickel hardware, checking, etc... and can look at pictures of old Les Pauls all day.Beautiful LP man. Now send it to Historic Makeovers and have them turn it into an R9.
Shipping is the worst part of selling. Learning how to pack a Les Paul for shipping, which local shipper is best for tour purposes, keeping box size and weight to a minimum...ugh. It also complicates the price, and makes every transaction difficult. Instantaneous teleportation is the only solution. Riiightt...Very interesting. It's the shipping part that worries me...but yes, maybe I should try MLP? Reverb seems so high-priced to me, and now that they are collecting Provincial Tax (for us Canadians) it immediately sours the sale for me.
Don't get me started about taxes! ....ha ha
That is a beauty. I love the wide stripes. I got the ‘50s AAA top iced tea version on Sweetwater. Sweetwater’s exclusive also has ‘57 Classic pickups instead of the usual Burstbuckers. When I got mine, I think iced tea was only available on the ‘60s model (other than this special run). This particular one is quite dark, it’s close to the bourbon burst. The other selling point on this one is it’s 8 lbs., 10 oz. I had to watch Sweetwater like a hawk, waiting for it.

You mean they only made 100 exclusive guitars for Canada? I don’t know how many they made for Sweetwater, but they were selling them for 2-3 years.I think that's the same run as the one I bought...although the specs I read say "exclusive" (100 for Canada, if I'm not mistaken) I think there was a similar run for Sweetwater.
(I'm not sure which pickups are in mine?)
The 50s model isn't available in Iced Tea, but there was a limited special run.You mean they only made 100 exclusive guitars for Canada? I don’t know how many they made for Sweetwater, but they were selling them for 2-3 years.
Ya, I saw that too. I think Sweetwater stopped selling them several months to a year ago.The 50s model isn't available in Iced Tea, but there was a limited special run.
Even now, the Gibson page only lists Cherry, Tobacco, and Gold Top.
60s model is available in Iced Tea, Bourbon, and "Unburst"
Don't know how long the "special run" was, and maybe they did 100 for L&M in addition to the run(s) for Sweetwater?
Even now, I don't see any 50s Iced Tea on Sweetwater.

More demand, I guess, or maybe it has features that take longer or are harder to do,Iced Tea Burst. I bought one.
And what’s with the 50’s Standard being cheaper than a Modern?? That strange!
