Holy mackerel! That's the most r9-looking USA model I think I've ever seen.

It's gorgeous. Would covet that, without a doubt. Congratulations!
Seems that Gibson can really knock it out of the park on some of these "Original Series" standard.
I have a 2019 60s model from early in the production (April) and it too has a killer top.

I have a squirrelly neck and shoulders from no less than 3 car accidents (none of which were my fault)… and so beefy LPs (or any guitar) just don’t last long in my stable. About 9.5lbs is my limit and I bitch and moan about those! Ha!!!

I just snagged a 60s Standard Unburst a couple weeks ago that’s only 8.47lbs. Perfection! Luckily it looks and sounds as good as it weighs. ;)

And that R9 I posted earlier is only 8.25lbs. :)
I understand, and I can appreciate your needs. - yes, I have heard their weights can vary. It is interesting!

Interested as you mentioned having some issues selling guitars. I’ve got about a dozen I need to unload and am curious to the roadblocks you’ve encountered? Where did you list the guitars for sale? Thanks

That run is what basically had me end up with my R9. Two stores in canada had them for $3500 used and l&m blew them out for $2400 plus tax lol. New standards were $3300 plus tax at the time. It was a great guitar but Im not paying above new for a used guitar, personally. If yours is like that one it’s a great guitar.

If OP bought new and was trying to sell used, 70% of new price generally moves things along. Its slower going at the moment for sure.

thanks!

I typically list my guitars on a local selling site similar to Craigslist. I also sometimes use Facebook Marketplace, but I find I get requests from farther away using FB. (They ask if I'm traveling their way 2 hours away)

Perhaps it's the economic climate, but I find people just don't want to pay anything. I was under the impression a nice Les Paul would hold its value pretty well, but in order to sell (rather than have it sit for months) I find I have to list it for 1/2 price.

congrats that's a unicorn - best Standard top I've ever seen. Looks like what you would get if you searched a long time for a perfect R9 top... to find it on a standard is quite killer.

Great color on that one! I don’t like a lot of the Gibson USA paint jobs lately, but that looks real nice!

Trying to sell locally is almost always the hardest, least productive, and least financially beneficial way to selling a Gibson Les Paul. You pretty much have to be willing to sell online using resources like MLP or Reverb to sell fast and/or get top dollar (or both). That’s where the customer base for the product is.

Any guitar I’ve bought locally I have *always* gotten an especially good deal on because local sales prices are always suppressed as compared to online. And I’ve also had negligible luck selling locally (unless it’s just a cheap guitar, and even then it takes forever and people try to lowball you). Online (either here of reverb), I have never had a LP last longer than a week and never had one sell for less than what my bottom line was going in. But, yeah, you gotta be willing to take the chances with online buyers and shipping, etc. That’s just the price of getting top dollar (and quick sales) though.

Very interesting. It's the shipping part that worries me...but yes, maybe I should try MLP? Reverb seems so high-priced to me, and now that they are collecting Provincial Tax (for us Canadians) it immediately sours the sale for me.

Don't get me started about taxes! ....ha ha

(someone also asked earlier about the weight, it's 9.8 lbs.)

PXL_20230219_145849906_1.jpg

I had some financial challenges during the end of last year because my wife became ill (she is recovering now) so I was only thinking of selling-off gear. I was down to two Les Pauls, but I couldn't say no to this one.

The journey has been really fun and I've learned a lot here. It would be nice to have one or two colors that are really special to my heart. Perhaps something Lemon to go along with it?
(I already own an older Hagstrom Swede in black, so that takes care of my ebony needs. A gold top would be nice too, but I gotta stay in control...lol)

I see these listed on L&M's website. It is listed as "Gibson Les Paul Standard AAA Top 60's Electric Guitar - Lemon Burst".
The thing I find odd is that it is priced $200 less than the normal Standards they are selling.
Any reason for that??

That's interesting.
The 60s model has Grovers, reflector knobs, and different pickups.
Both the Original Series 50s and 60s should be the same price, which is about $200 less than the "Modern" (but more than the Classic).
They have recently released the 50s and 60s "faded", which is $300 (USD) cheaper than the original models, and have no pickup covers.
