how does the speaker spacing look? going for as compact as can get away with. 18mm ply, routed to create recess, leather covered top and sides, mahogany front and back. not sure on grills but will only cover speakers. 2 ft square, 1 ft deep.

Oops, change of plan gunna be a 2x12 x 2x10, just accidentally bought 2 x 12in Celestion blues on eBay. I really need a decent amp to do this cab justice though.

In the 90s, I had an old oak Carvin X100.
My buddy wanted a 4x10 for his Traynor, and Carvin was having a sale on their VL-10 speakers, so I bought 8 and built an oak 410 to stack under my Carvin.
The black one was a little deeper, 13" IIRC since that's the max my dovetail jig could handle. I used birch ply, and I made it a convertible open/closed back.... center panel was about 50% of the area, and was mounted with threaded inserts so it could be removed to run open.
It was wired with two jacks, one input was 8-ohm mono, the other input was 16 ohm stereo.

The oak cabinet was made from off-the-shelf oak 1x12 stock from Lowe's, so it's a little shallower. Baffle is birth ply, open-back. It is the same overall size as the Carvin 1-12 combo.

That 3D rendering is pretty sweet looking. I love 4x10s. I have an old 80s Marshall 1965B 4x10. It’s pretty fantastic. It still runs its original 4 Celestion 8 Ohm GL10-35 speakers which are, frankly, awesome! But should they ever frag, I’d put some Greenbacks in it.

Quick update, wood ordered and cut, tolex and piping ordered. so cab assembly tomorrow, the blues were supposed to arrive today, but courier has a status of 'delayed, recovery action in place', no idea what that means. This is going to be all ply for the first run, if it works, I will try a build in solid materials. either rosewood of mahogany, depending what I can salvage from auctions. Will be home use only so that cab will be left in the 'wood'. might just shoot some lacquer on it.

Where "at home" do your need 2x12+2x10? Yikes!
yeah a bit ott if all four used, it'll be set up for 2 at a time when i wire it up. either 2 back loaded or 2 front loaded. getting a good sound at home is the issue, using my 5 watt marshall combo with a 1 x 10 at a level that gets it in the 'zone' is way too loud.
