I keep a set on my bicycle flat repair kit and in my motorcycle tool roll.
At around 45, stuff starts hanging weirdly and turning different shade of purple and fuchsia.
By 50, your parts are pretty much in a state of decline/failure

About 45, it was either glasses or get a longer arm to read the text on my phone!

Have varietals now, took a little getting used to, but adapted well.

I can remember a time when I could see all the states that are listed above the Lincoln Memorial on the American Five Dollar Bill. Now I can tell you for sure that they are there. I was a first generation Sesame Street kid, you do the math.

48...like it almost happened overnight.

I still see at a distance well, but up close is a problem.

I've been wearing Glasses since I was two years old. I'm long sighted.

I started with Bifocals at about 50. Took me two days to get used to them.

Wearing glasses is no big deal. Those who are short sighted can easily get Laser treatment...........works really well. Long sighted is another story for Laser treatment.

:cheers2:

I'm told that my astigmatism is a problem for laser and that at my age my eyes are changing and that laser would only work for a while.

Mid 40s and it was like runaway train after that. Very frustrating but c'est la vie. Got contacts this year and they are OK but need to get them adjusted so one is to read and one is to see distance. Took some getting used to putting them in and taking them out but I've been surprised at how little you feel them once in. Still wear glasses more often than contacts.

One thing I've found is light makes a HUGE difference. In your average office I can't see sh!t. But out in the bright sunlight I suddenly don't need them.

Another thing is the more I rely on them the more I seem to need them.

At 26 I got Lasik, for distance vision, which is still awesome. Now at 42 still don't need glasses for readers or distance, but big deal, when I need them, I'll get them.

I started having to use readers shortly before I turned 50. I spent a lot of years working in front of computers, going back to my Air Force years in the 1980s, and I'm pretty sure that was a big factor in it. I don't mind them, I got used to needing them early in the game, though it did feel strange the first month I had to use them.

At 46, my vision is as good as it ever was... but my arms seem to be getting shorter.

I wired up a guitar for a friend last night, what used to be a routine job has become a throbbing dickache.

when i went in to see about lasik surgery, the doc said for $5k we can correct your distance sight with a laser but you will still need reading glasses at some point in the future probably.

then she says for $10k we can cover both distance and reading...what they do is exactly what they do for cataract surgery, they implant lenses in your eyeball for lack of better words and your vision is good to go both sides of the coin.

if you get a cataract your insurance usually will pay for that surgery but you may need to pay out of pocket for the other eye if you only have it in one eye...you hear that alot that people dont want to pay for the other eye...

i had the $5k deal and it was the best money ever spent....didnt need reading glasses for about 2 years and the distance is perfect to this day, that was maybe 8 or 10 years ago....

oh and when i needed readers i asked her if i should get perscription glasses and she said "heck no, do not waste the money, go to walmart for $5..that is a myth that cheap readers will hurt your vision"..

Oddly enough, the first time I realized I realized I needed glasses was at a rehearsal where I was unable to thread a string end through the hole on my LP tuning key. I kept jabbing and jabbing thinking something was blocking it. A young guy there got it and ran it through. Sometimes you don't realize what you don't have until you put on a pair of glasses and go, "Aha!"

I'm 51. I started wearing reading glasses at 46. I started with no-kidding bifocals about 18 months ago.
