I have seen better top carves on early 70's..... that looks like a late 70's flat dome top.... but everything including the Gibson MOP headstock inlay is on the money. Clean enough to be $4k or better........ For $30k you could get a clean real deal mid 50's Custom.... I'll pass :p

You are right, this top looks dead flat (hyperbole, but you know what I mean...). :thumb:

Not sure about the logo actually......or the split diamond. The very early 70's featured the split diamond that reached right to the TRC. There is also a wider gap between the MOP in the centre of the diamond too which this guitar doesn't have. The 1970 Gibson logo had more squared off corners to the letters too.
That logo looks like the 73 and afterward logo to me - its the same as on my 75.

So this looks more like the endless sellers trying yet again to make a 73/74 into a 70/71.

Under closer inspection i think you are right,... there's no dot on the i either, but those have a habit to be on or off through the seventies. That would explain the flat dome top.

$30k + $80 for shipping? :laugh2:

Just looking for the right sucker. Does look an awful lot like my '73.

For shits and giggles I am going to ask to see the pots...

"Could we please see detailed images of the pots in the cavity? "

^ actually I was going to post and ask if someone could do that.

Maybe we could have a sweep on when we think it was actually made.
I would not be surprised if I got no response or no images appeared. Then again, maybe they will.

$30k + $80 shipping (insulting at $30k) is unreasonable even if it is a '70.

Yes, I agree that such a pic would be unlikely to arrive. The absurdity of the price and the description seems to indicate that the seller is trying to deceive or con. Lots of pics, none that might make dating the guitar easy for the generic Norlin seeker.

The waffle back tuners may or may not be original,....

Question for those who know........... When was the waffle back phased out ? ..... before or after '74 ?

If a con, at least he knows someone is potentially on to them.

Regardless, it is a fantastic example - worthy of a premium price, just not 5 figures of one.

Like i mentioned before....... $30,000 can buy a lot of vintage guitar,... you can skip the 1970s altogether.

Or the 1960s.

Only the '58-'60 Standards are in the stratosphere..... anything else can be had quite reasonibally..... if around the ballpark of $30k give or take $10k is considered reasonable.

If it wasn't someone's main axe used on a dozen platinum records i can't see anything going for more. Especially anything from the 1970's.

Well what do you know ... a response!

"Yeah! I’ll have to take some pictures of it later today and I’ll post them".

You can get a few nice modern LPS for 30 thousand anyway.
