Reminder: New rules in place for 2020 season

Universal designated hitter

Runner on second to begin extra innings

There will be no restrictions on position players pitching in 2020.

Suspended games. If weather forces a game to be cut short before it is official, it will be continued at a later date rather than started from scratch.

Unsportsmanlike conduct. Players and managers will be expected to maintain physical distance from all umpires and opposing players on the playing field whenever possible.

Pitchers will be permitted to carry a small wet rag in their back pocket to be used for moisture in lieu of licking their fingers.

The three-batter minimum, a rule change that was instituted this past offseason, will remain in place. It requires pitchers to face at least three batters or pitch to the end of a half-inning, with exceptions for injuries and illnesses.

The extra innings rule gives a huge advantage to the away team, especially if they have a good closer. If the away team can bunt the runner over, hit a fly ball, then bring in their closer in the bottom of the inning, it means the home team has to score at least 2 runs to win. That is unlikely against any good closer.

Marlins are done for a while. I'll be shocked if we make it into the 2nd week of August before this season is called.

Would the season continue if a team or two bows out because of illness-would that be considered fair or lawsuit time?

I'd say no cause it would effect many more teams, especially within the division, than just the marlins. Probably end up with some teams playing 50 games or under vs 60 planned. But the commissioner is Roger Goodell level boob so who knows.

How many games did the Astros players get for cheating?
No players were punished because they had been given immunity by MLB in exchange for their cooperation.[1] The Astros subsequently fired both Luhnow and Hinch on the day their suspensions were announced.[2] MLB's investigation also determined that Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora helped mastermind the Astros' sign stealing while serving as Hinch's bench coach in 2017; Boston and Cora mutually parted ways the following day, and MLB later suspended Cora through the 2020 postseason. Carlos Beltrán was the only Astros player from 2017 who was specifically named in the report; he had been hired to manage the New York Mets in November 2019 but parted ways with the team after the results of MLB's investigation were announced.
