Has anyone seen the new “Double Gold” in person? It’s hard to tell in photos...the Sweetwater photos make it look awful but the CME photos look great.

The new "Double Gold" looks VERY accurate in person. IMO it's the best Gold color Gibson has ever offered on a re-issue. I just picked up this 2019 from CME. It's one of their special runs with a 59' neck profile and large 59' frets. And it's super light; 7 pounds, 14 ounces!

So that’s one of their “R8”s that are actually an R9 in every way except for the 60th Anniversary medallion and COA?

Double Gold is what was used on the 2018 Brazilian run. I personally think it looks way better than what was used on the True Historics. There was also a new gold top forumula introduced back in 2013-2014 that everyone raved about and they are pretty close.

That looks great. How do the aged inlays looks in person?

Yes, this new 2019 has the Carmelita neck and body carve.
The aged inlays look great but do vary from guitar to guitar.
The color has that "hint of green" in the gold just like the original 50's guitars did.
Dark back and sides and the big frets. Very Happy!
Here are some quick cell phone photos...

That color looks really good. It looks like the real deal in your photos. Far better than the green-gold they introduced in 2014.

Looks really good. Does anyone have a side-by-side shot of this with a 2013/14 R7?

I'm looking for a darkback and have been talking to CME. How does the neck feel in comparison to the R7 profile. That is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Congrats!

The CME guitars have a very nice feeling 59’ shaped neck (they call it the Carmelita neck shape). The standard Historic Gold Tops have what I would call a chunky “C” shaped neck. For me, this makes all the difference.

I have been meaning to take some photos of the Goldtops together for a while now. My photography skills are less than amateur, but I tried to show some comparisons under the same lighting conditions in the posts above.
