Hey there guys!
New to the forum, but excited to start contributing :)

Recently purchased a 2017 Gibson Les Paul Custom Shop R8. Or 1958 Standard, or Custom Shop Standard. Not sure.

From what I keep reading '17 was a weird year.

Has a beautiful top that completely won me over. I immediately sold my 2019 50s Standard and had to buy it.

With that said, I also have a question. All the serials I've seen from 2017 were X XXXX, but mine are just 6 continuous numbers (XXXXXX)

The Les Paul is dated for 8/30/17

Congrats!! Beautiful guitar.

6 digit serial numbers happen pretty much every year on custom shop reissues. They start with 5 digits, for example (8 7001) then once they've used up the available range of 5 digit numbers, they go to a 6 digit number scheme as seen on yours.
