Looks like the 2017 customs are shipping…

I may be in love already and was all set on a 2017 Bourbon HP...

Then I saw this....now I don't know what to do...ugh

Of course this BB Custom would need gold pup covers, a Bigsby and black top hats with gold foil before entering my stable but it's pretty damn near perfect as is...

Other than that, let's all  as the customs, Memphis, and new finishes start arriving in stores...

This custom is absolutely bananas...
For now, the Bourbon burst is officially on the back burner…

Hmmm. It's not a custom, but has the custom type of binding on the front but not the binding on the back. I would say yes if it had an Ebony Fret Board like the original Black Beauty I think, since the price point is not too bad.

No rear binding. Not a custom.

Custom classics have no binding in the rear as well..
While my ES-LEs Paul has binding on the top and bottom but isn't a custom...

But y'all are right...technically....

Though I tend to call all gibbies with the big diamond inlay a custom...let alone a 3 pup bb

I'm just glad this new models are starting to hit stores…

Can't wait till all the custom models come out and the Memphis Lester start showing up…

I've got my pocketbook ready :naughty:

Sounds interesting.

Something in that pic looks out of proportion, or wrong.
I have seen many other 3 PU LPs in black that looked "correct" but it all may just be the "aftificial looking" pic.

If it has the diamond inlay it's a custom model, rear binding or not means nothing really. This one is Gibson USA, as the Custom Light. Custom model but not Custom Shop.

Nice one, too many pups for my needs..:D

The pic sort of make it look like one of those "Lite", skinny models(??)

It does look thin but then again not as thin as the Custom Lite.

I "stole" a few picture from the Black Beauty Thread and it may be as simple as add PU covers, Pickguard and new knobs :hmm:

Could definitely get your Frampton on with that! Like the 3 volume set up to blend the middle p/u.

don't see the word custom anywhere in Gibson's description. How did it become a Custom?

That is just marketing words, probably to avoid confusing people with a Custom Black Beauty model, with basically same appointments as a regular CS, made in USA.

Split diamond, Black Beauty, white binding with multiple plies, richlite board, alu TOM, MOP block inlays with first fret, etc... This is a Custom model.

Point is we've seen many Custom models without a back binding. Custom Maple, Custom Axcess Stopbar, Custom Classic, Custom Light... etc... It's all about appointments.

This looks like another version of the Les Paul Classic Custom 3 pups, but this time with all Black Beauty blings.

I concur....I love the big headstock with the diamond inlay…
To almost an obsessive level… And the first fret block inlay gets me every time…

I wanted the Pete Townshend deluxe model simply because it has a trapezoid inlay in the first fret...

To me, the block inlayed frets and diamond headstock with binding makes it a custom to me...regardless of all other factors...headstock and block inlays define it for me...but that's just my .02c

In any case, I want this guitar..

When I was prepared to buy one, an ES-Lester goldtop came up for a steal..

Still pine over the the Fort Knox....I will eventually own one but will pay more than it's original $3999 tag...

Timing is everything...

Those gold frets

Yup, It's a Gibson USA Custom model, just like the Classic Custom and some others. Some folks my frown on it not having back binding, but I'm glad it does not have it. I would not want it to be exactly like the Custom Shop models, there needs to be some difference between the two.

I'm glad they used MOP inlays instead of acrylic inlays.

If I could change anything I would want pick up covers and I would prefer Classic 57's, Custombuckers, or a combination of the two would probably be even better instead of burstbuckers.

If you get it, then enjoy!!! :thumb:
