My first Gibson was a brand new 2016 Studio Faded T in worn brown satin. I bought it while I was on a business trip in Boston, and I remember carrying the box home from Guitar Center to my hotel through the park that afternoon (lots of shout-outs!) and the terror of figuring out how to fly home with it (first time flying with a guitar).... It's still one of my favorites.
The wood grain to the left of the bridge pickup is super ugly--there's a knot or something. I love it. May be ugly, but whoa does it put out!
It sounded pretty good stock--great weight, chubby neck, nice sustain. I learned a lot upgrading it, and I got it to sound the way I want now: I had a luthier put on a bone nut, and I swapped out the pickups for Electric City Freedoms, 525k CTS pots, Sprague Mylar black beauty caps, 50s wiring, aluminum tailpiece, cream plastics, gold speed knobs.
