At the same price than Japanese or American guitar, a chinese one would eat them for breakfast.
Labor cost, taxes, and so many thing gives a lot more "hours of work" on the guitar. It's just that usually, we give less than $100 to chinese to produce a guitar and then we compare it to guitars that cost more than $1,500 to be produced.
For a $1,000 cost of production for 1 guitar I bet chinese could easily defeat Gibson
