Hey guys I am very new to this forum so apologies if I am already in the wrong spot -

I have spent the last 2 months (on and off days) swapping my probucker2 for a phatcat, neck position, and trying to find a thread that had the same problem so that I did not have to make this post because I am terrible at explaining a problem. When removing the probucker2 from the quick connect and adding the phatcat to the volume split pot (center hole/tab) the whole thing either buzzes very loudly or just does not register at all. I have half a mind to completely rip out the pots and replace with my broken-headstock 2023 custom's pots but realized they are not the same sized threads/posts (CTS pot is much fatter than the split pots in my 2015)

When i search for other similar scenarios it appears everyone has a 2split pot/ 2 CTS tone pots for their mods/builds but my search skills are apparently terrible because I cannot find a wiring diag of 2splits, 1phase/split, 1tone. if I am not making sense up to this point, i clearly need help lol

all in all, I just want to know what i need to do to successfully wire the phatcat via solder and what to do with the other pot that no longer has the probucker2 quick connection attached to it. wSplir3.png wCTS.png
(should that red wire my finger is pointing to be loose or attached to something? i failed to take pictures)

Thank you immensely to anyone willing to assist

Ok, let's take a deep breath, and figure out what you have, and what to do with it.
I am assuming you have 3 push/pull pots. One for phase on the neck vol, one for coil split neck tone pot, and one for coil split for bridge on bridge tone pot. (Coil split in the case, is sending one coil of the humbucker to ground, and making the pickups single coils.) Sound good?

IF I recall correctly, the Duncan Phat Cat is a SINGLE COIL pickup. You can't coil split a single coil. the is only one coil, and a coil split, well, you can't split what you ain't got. That push/pull will be useless.

Put the Phat Cat hot wire to the RED plug going into the switch, and the ground to both the bare wire, and the black, then plug it into the circuit board on the pot/switch. (And why this went bold and won't come back.... who friggen knows.)

The brodge pickup I assume is working fine when plugged in. Hopefully, this will work. When you pull the neck vol up, when 3 way switch is in the middle, you should get that thin nasal sound of two pickups out of phase. The push/pull on the tone will do nothing.

Thank you for the reply - yeah, fair enough I was huffin and puffin earlier. Fortunately, after making this post I felt a lot better. But that did not help my post as I sort of spewed a bunch of words with no real groundwork.

I understand the idea of the splitting and I am not hoping to utilize the push pots anymore but to be honest I do not understand the mechanics of it all and I should probably start there if I want to wire the single Phatcat to a system designed for humbuckers. My goal was to slip it in (ground shield to N-Vol pot and slide hotwire thru middle tab/hole) while keeping everything else the same, but that resulted in a super loud phatcat that was active in all 3 positions of the switch or the bridge pick up was either completely out or only working on the Neck switch, oof. if possible, I wanted to remove solder points and just attempt rewiring it like a regular set of pots.

but to the main part, your suggestion - I would be wiring the pick up directly to the 3 way switch? I am thinking of wiring it back the way I thought would work and upload it here. Perhaps you could spell it out for my simple mind, if I took a better photo?

No, wire it to the connector that the original pickup was wired to, then plug it in.
