2014 R9 Dings a deal breaker?

Hi fellow lespaulians..looking at these photos I cant decide if they ruin the value of this 2014 ..1959 reissue..also no coa or medallion..what would you do?..buy or pass?..

Is it a Guitar Center special? Looks like the wrong case too. Pretty sure it was a brown case by 2014.

I would want to check it over carefully. Is the neck straight etc. And then is the price good for what you are getting.

Depends on the price, and whether you mind a bit of character...

Judging by the black case with dark wine interior lining, it may not be a 2014. Any more photos of the fretboard inlays? They look like they may be made of the earlier ‘swirly’ material to me, but it’s hard to tell from these pics... Serial number would also be helpful to accurately date the guitar, of course.

And that is very likely the wrong case ....Is there a COA? ....but its a better case than the 2014's ....(dont tell them that)

No COA, no deal.... but thats just me....

Shouldn't it be WAY more red for the dye/grain filler for a '14?

It looks to have been monkied with or maybe dropped enough that it has a single mis-matched tuner.

Definitely a 2007 R9. Also has 1 replaced tuner (double ring).

I noticed that 1 tuner had 2 rings and the other 5 had the single ring...hmmm

Also check the cavity and see if the pots have been molested... I would take off another 50 to 100 depending on quality of the job....also how many frets are need to be replaced?

True, worth a shot though. I am admittedly biased against pre-13 guitars thinking they can hang price wise.

The dropped and damaged angle is one to take if it plays well and sounds great. Hard to say on that with pics other than there's not much fret wear, either a case queen or a third string guitar for whoever had it? Plus no case candy and a decent but forgettable top...... Work on them with a hand full of $100's and a firm ceiling. There are better ones to chase than that.

Saw that one yesterday in San Marcos. If you are in town talk to Joe in guitars. He can tell you some about it if he took it in. I would be hesitant even though it is a r9.
