I went to Long & McQuade today to buy some wax and strap locks and walked out with a 2012 Les Paul Traditional in Faded Honeyburst. I've never seen one like it in person before and thought it looked incredible. Once I had it in my hands I knew it was coming home with me. I went on Gibson's website to read up on it but it doesn't have it listed as being produced. Its Model #LPTDFHBNH. So what the heck is it? Here is a link to L&M's site of it. Gibson Les Paul Traditional - Faded Honeyburst - Long & McQuade Musical Instruments

You can find out all about those models here as they are the same as the 2011 models:

Some of us did a lot of digging to get information on these guitars so that thread was started to keep it all in one place.

I ran my serial number and mine was made on Sept 7 2012 and is 349 of that run.

Where did you 'run' your serial number? If you used that guitar dater website the thing is useless. Second, the date in a serial number does not tell you what day a guitar was made, just the day it was stamped (and it is stamped a long time before it is finished).

Mine looks just like the picture posted by Sharky007, no push pulls on mine either. I contacted Yorkville Sound in Pickering because they are the Canadian Distributor of Gibson guitars in Canada and was told that the last few years Long & McQuade have had 200 of these guitars built a year and sold them as Limited Editions and sold through them only. I ran my serial number here, The Guitar Dater Project - Gibson Serial Number Decoder It says mine was built on September 7th and is number 75, although my last 3 numbers are 375. Sharky007, could yours be number 49 instead of 349???

For the love of God, please stop posting links to that useless website.

That was the first time I've ever posted a link to that website. It was that website that got me curious about my guitar being 75 instead of 375. Mine was inspected on Sept 26, 2012.

It is isn't it. I've spent more time trying to figure out what I bought then I have playing it. I think its time to go plug into a amp.

Well here is my answer from Gibson.. Really contact the distributor for the guitars you built??? Wow Gibson,:applause:

I would recommend you contact Yorkville Sound. They handle the distribution of all things Gibson into the Canadian market and should be able to assist you. You can reach them at:

I've read that thread and to be honest it didn't answer my questions on what I bought. Here are my questions.........
1. Does Long &McQuade get Gibson to produce 200 of these a year and sell them during their Gibson month sale?
2. Gibsons serial numbers, do they start at 300 everyday for guitars built in Nashville and if so is my guitar and Sharky007's number 75 and number 49 of the 200?

Everyone keeps referring to that thread but it doesn't have this info in it unless I missed it.

It's in that thread that Gibson produced a limited run of 300 for the Canadian market back in 2011. Everyone thought that was the end of it until 2012s started popping up which you say is a run of 200. There wasn't any press on each release so little was known about it until they got out around. It's all there in that long thread.
Nashville is 3 and the production number afterwards. Are both fadeds made around the same time.

Compare the day of the year on the other one to yours. See if the stamp days are close.....although I 'm thinking they likely produced here and there throughout the year. If that's the case, you're likely not #49 of the run just #49 stamped that day.

Both mine and Sharky007's were stamped on the same day. In the 2011 run were they all not built at the same time? You would think they all would be because they are for Long&McQuades Gibson month promotion which is in April.

I talked to my sales guy L&M yesterday and he did alittle digging but could not come up with anything on mine. Mine was built in 2012. And they have another one hanging on the wall at the store so who know?

I dealt with the same guy from Gibson and he admitted that they don't keep great records on guitars sold outside of the US. Oh, and their lifetime warranty does not apply outside of the US either!

The problem with contacting Yorkville (in other words, Long & McQuade) is that they do not always have the correct info either. They continue to claim the pickups are '57 Classics but several of us have removed our pickups and have proven that they are Burstbucker Pros.

The stickied thread is a great source of info on these guitars - some of us spent a good deal of time and effort digging for as much info as we could get and we posted it all in that thread so that it could serve as a resource for everyone else.

I've read that thread and to be honest it didn't answer my questions on what I bought. Here are my questions.........
1. Does Long &McQuade get Gibson to produce 200 of these a year and sell them during their Gibson month sale?

Yes. They are a special order item just like the Guitar Center exclusives, Wildwood exclusives, etc.

2. Gibsons serial numbers, do they start at 300 everyday for guitars built in Nashville and if so is my guitar and Sharky007's number 75 and number 49 of the 200?

Numbers up to 299 are reserved for acoustics and anything over that is an electric. The serial number refers to all electrics stamped that day and has nothing to do with the production run of Fadeds. Gibson does not do separate serial numbers for Trads, Standards, Fadeds, etc.

And keep in mind that the serial number only indicates the day it was stamped, not the day the build was completed. A guitar can be completed a few months after the date stamped in the serial number.

No, they were not all built at the same time. My first one had a 2010 serial number while my second one had a 2011 serial number. And as I said above - you have to remember that the date in the serial number does NOT indicate the day the build was completed, only the day that it was stamped (my first one was stamped December 2 2010 but the sticker on the pickups was dated February 28th 2011 so it is impossible for the guitar to have been completed before that day and it was most likely completed in March and up here by April for their Gibson Month promotion).
