I went to Long & McQuade today to buy some wax and strap locks and walked out with a 2012 Les Paul Traditional in Faded Honeyburst. I've never seen one like it in person before and thought it looked incredible. Once I had it in my hands I knew it was coming home with me. I went on Gibson's website to read up on it but it doesn't have it listed as being produced. Its Model #LPTDFHBNH. So what the heck is it? Here is a link to L&M's site of it. i have the same one also from L&M. Sweet guitar for the price!! (no push pull) I know I checked the Gibson website and they do not show faded Traditional. But L&M had these made for them and I believe only 200. I asked them if mine was one of those and they said no they were normal stock.

Are these the same as the 2011 Trad fadeds?
(See the sticky thread on the "2011 Trad Faded mega thread" in this forum)

Most of the guys at Longs don't know their head from their ass (not all but most. I used to work there myself so I can say that confidently). I bought one of these last year, it was one of the last of the 200 from the 2011 run and none of the guys in the store knew a thing about it. Yorkville ordered more but they're still not a standard production guitar from Gibson. I don't know how many they had made for the 2012 run, I would guess another 200. I saw one at Cosmo music and the tobbcco burst is nicer on the 2012 run than it was on the 2011 run.

Mine looks just like the picture posted by Sharky007, no push pulls on mine either. I contacted Yorkville Sound in Pickering because they are the Canadian Distributor of Gibson guitars in Canada and was told that the last few years Long & McQuade have had 200 of these guitars built a year and sold them as Limited Editions and sold through them only. I ran my serial number here, The Guitar Dater Project - Gibson Serial Number Decoder It says mine was built on September 7th and is number 75, although my last 3 numbers are 375. Sharky007, could yours be number 49 instead of 349???

Either way I think I got myself a great guitar, don't know if it is collectible or not but I didn't buy it for that reason.

HNGD! congratulations! Did you happen to do the financing on it?

Thanks, I looked at the financing on it and it was going to work out to about 40 bucks every two weeks with my down payment but I didn't go that route. I put half down in cash and the other half on my credit card because I knew I would pay it off in a month or two instead of three years. I got a swag bag full of stuff too when I got it.

Mine says production number 349? What does the 3 mean?

Don't always trust the guitar dater project for accurate info.

It's a trad pro. Push pull knobs?

It's not - they have had their description mixed up on their web site in the past. These look similar to the Trad Pro sold by Guitar Center, but are in fact the Trad Faded model with the satin finish and no wood filler.

I have a 2011 and these are great guitars.

It' funny how they changed the description from when I bought mine to whats on there website now. I emailed Gibson about it, lets see what they say.

I think it's just because the Trad Pro 50's and the Trad Faded look very much alike. Someone got confused. But they are different models.

1,599 Canadian? Great value. And the faded finish doesn't seem rashy like some used to.
