Do you guys ever feel like the public relations representatives at Gibson doesn't know their product well enough.

However, I am going to buy one of the 2012 Standards, probably the Trans-Amber or Lightburst

Interesting though that the weight relief is 'channeled' instead of the Traditional swiss cheese hole weight relief. From his description it sounds like it's halfway between chambering and the swiss cheese holes (as far as how much wood is removed).

These features are much more what I would want in a standard. The bypass is a cool idea. Slight assymetric neck sounds better. I found the assymetric neck super fat on the bass side.

Not really I'm sure lots of people on this forum could tell you so much about the different models that even some collector's would get bored at the amount of knowledge. Not to mention, this guy didn't even know the tops are maple and not mahogany...

Why not? Added functionality without drawbacks is always a plus.

Yeah, I actually got rid of that jack and installed the standard LP jack on my 2008 Standard. If they really wanted to upgrade the 2008, why not just go back to the 50s wiring (which I did on mine). Makes a huge difference and is how a LP is meant to be played. You got humbuckers . . . get the most out of them!
