Im abt to get my first les paul and its jr... it's a 2010 satin cherry.. the question is.. i hear that the quality of gibson is declining and the 2010 is inferior to it's earlier models such as those made in 2001 for instance.. can someone shed some light into the matter? It does play better than a 2012 model which is also in the store... so is older better?

if you like the 2010 go for it, there are winners and duds in every year.

Older doesn't always mean better. The quality issues seem to be more from guitar to guitar rather than tied to a year. If the Jr really speaks to you and plays like you want it and sounds like you want it to, then you should get it. It isn't an investment piece by any means. So if you get it,
A: post pics.
B: play the heck out of it.
