"...some minute red spots from red filler of other guitars. These are signs for handmade authenticity. :)"
Which is very fine with me..

Just a quick update,
the guitar arrived safely yesterday..
I'll post more details in a few days,
but for the moment: OH MY GOD, what a difference!

I almost didn't recognized it sound wise..
Acoustically, it is way louder, and much more richer, really well balanced.
and plugged, well I couldn't believe it.

The neck pickup sounds much warmer and fuller than before, but it still prcise and never muddy.
The treble pickup sounds almost like a Telecaster. Lots of bite and very articulate...
The in between position has a lot of Honk!
I can't stop playing;-)

Overall I feel like the guitar gained a lot of richness (bottom and mids), and kept its high end that I loved, but without being icepick, its treble is smoother..

The playability is out of this world, great neck shape, fat but very friendly, and comfortable. Love the feel of the Braz board!
The guitar rings so much, you can feel it a lot when you play it, much much more than before.

Here it is out in the sunshine, with a pic taken from a very good luthier friend of mine,
He said the Goldtop finish was spot on!

More, and maybe a video soon;-)

Sorry folks, I've been so busy digging the guitar lately that I didn't have the time to post here;-)
I got the feeling that it gets better every time I pick it up.
Or maybe I can't get used to its awesome sounds.

It is almost like I had to learn to play again, as it behaves completely differently.
It has so much more textures in its tones, that it is much much more inspiring to play now.

Another thing, is that Florian's setup is so perfect, I just had to tighten the trussrod a bit, because it was a bit too loose because of the shipment. Otherwise, It's easy to play, while it fights back a bit at the same time, a great feel!

The best thing about it is that it never gets out of tune. I had to tune it once, out of the box,
that's all. And I do a lot of bends!
Changed the strings last sundays, and still stays in tune instantly.
The neck is really more stable than before as well, we had a lot of weather change here in France in the last two weeks, and the neck relief didn't move at all, whereas before, it used to move a little bit..

I had the chance to compare it with a CC 15, last friday, and while the CC's neck and feel were right, sound wise it felt really thinner and less precise, whereas the Goldtop was fat,
creamy and had a lot of bite at the same time.

I'll be recording it tomorrow for a band demo, as a Blues-Rock trio, covering some 60's, early 70's stuff, more on that later..

It's been quite a while now,
but I just wanted to update the thread and say how much my initial feelings about the makeover is still the same.
I just love the guitar and can't believe how good it sounds!

Here's a video with one of my bands early this month:

the only thing I did was putting black pastic pickups rings and parts from the Montreux time Machine series.. always loved black plastic parts on a Goldtop;-)

Thanks for the nice comment!
The amp was a Fender Blues Deville (backline from the venue),
which surprised me in a good way.
I usually use a tweed deluxe clone or a Vox ac30 for bigger stages.
Otherwise, I was using a Boss Bluesdriver, coupled with a Boss Od-3, and sometimes an extra boost (Xotic Ep booster), a combination that sounds good to me, and is quite reliable..

Happy new year to all of you!

Here's a new video with the guitar...
For some reason, the sound couldn't be remixed on this video session, but as the Les Paul is upfront, I thought that it would fit on this forum.
This is more of a Mark Knopfler playing style here, with the pickups being out of phase, and the two volumes adjusted to give it more warmth..
Amp is a Tweed Deluxe Clone..
