OK here goes,
I'm not a fan of Slash by any means, I have nothing against him, I actually think he is a pretty noble person from what i've seen and read on here.

My story is this,
A local shop has a Slash GT. I love GT's and desire them:laugh2:
The guitar is new but not in new condition. Dings and scratches all over the headstock and a few on the back. I know the thing play great because I ran it through the courses.

Now I know what your thinking, If it plays good then buy it...
Well I'm no stranger to great playing LP's as I have my fair share of them.
This guitar would be my one and only investment type of guitar or maybe not, that's just the excuse I am feeding the other half.

Anyways they want $1800 OTD, but I thought it was a little steep due to the condition so I countered with $1650 OTD and they declined. I was a little peeved because it is not a "New" guitar.

So what do you guys think, Is it a deal at $1800?
Yes I know how to make decisions on my own, just want some motivational or de-motivational imput.
Feel free:D

If you buy it as an investment, keep in mind it's a USA, not Custom Shop guitar, so probably it won't bring much profit in the future. At 1000 units worldwide, it's even less limited than the 2007 Guitar Of The Week editions (400 each), and those seem to fail as investments, so far.
But if it plays great and you want a dark back gold top, then go for it. It's most likely better than the current Standards, albeit for the short neck tenon, and all you need to do is accept the headstock logo and get used to the neck profile.
At $1800 OTD it's not really a steal, although it's cheaper than a new Standard, but if you can get them at least set it up properly, then why not?

Yea I figured I don't need another LP.....Yea right, but if they would take $1650, I could try it out and then resell it, maybe break even on it If I don't like it. Your right about the headstock logo..Meh

I think the GT's, which I believe were $1800 new have held up very well on ebay ($2000+) and its essentially an upgraded standard for less $$.

Sounds good to me, I have the tobacco slash (USA) which is a really nice guitar and I love it.
