Considering buying this today. Fella wants $600 and I have an hour drive each way, Includes the case. Anyone see any issue with it? Looking on Reverb similar ones have "2008" stamped below Made in USA. Something to be concerned about. Is it a fair price? What should I look out for? I let an SG get away awhile back and am looking for one. Thanks for any help afforded.

I'm a new guy here, and certainly not an expert, but I bought an almost new SG Tribute recently that looks very similar. If I could have gotten it for $600 I would have felt like I stole it. Mine doesn't have a hard case with it, either. Someone will probably be by shortly that knows more than me.

I believe that one is an '07. The differences that I see from mine are different control knobs, and a poker chip behind the toggle switch, which mine doesn't have. Good luck!

1st and 5th digits of serial number indicate that one is a 2007.

2008 was the first year they began stamping the 4-dight year and the word "MODEL" on the backside of the headstocks.

The SG Tribute is a re-named SG Faded.
Only difference is maple neck and silkscreen crown on headstock.

The Faded series began in 2002.
Original model name was SG Special Faded.
Later on was shortened to SG Faded.
2019 re-named to SG Standard Tribute.
2020 re-named to SG Tribute.

That is a good price in today's market. I can remember when these were $549-$599 new, and that was between one to two decades ago, so it is about the price that it was new, and considering the inflationary market, it is a good deal. Like always, hope that the guitar plays and sounds good in person. Know that if you buy at that price and you sell later, you probably won't lose $$.

BTW...that was yesterday. Did you get it??

I did get it and a looking super new Fender 212R Amp was thrown into the deal at my request. Also included a 3x3 set of black hipshot tuners and a tail stop with mounts, bridge mounts but no bridge in black too. I am hopefully selling the amp for $250 today. Bringing my final cost for the SG, ratty case and black hardware to $350.

That's all correct. I bought one new in '02 for $479. It had the Crescent Mood inlays. I loved it, never should have sold it.

Those are great SG.
Had a few of them in the past.

2003, 2003, 2004, 2005

Sent the 2004 Worn Yellow out to be refinished to a proper TV Yellow like a CS model, but it came back to me as Aged TV White instead. The finish work was great, just wrong color.

Sold the Fender amp for $200 so my cost on the SG was $400...
You got a helluva deal, prices on those things have gone through the roof. Rightfully so, it's a fantastic guitar. Congrats.

A Super Deal and a nice guitar!
:thumb:
Yeah I buy and sell daily or weekly depending on what's I have and what's available. Pretty much get good deals all the time horse trading and am able to "come up" to nicer stuff through my efforts. Takes some sweat and hustle but man I have some nice stuff now.

That white one looks great. Maybe wrong color but it is definitely unique.
