Let playability decide... They are very close in specs.. if you can’t play them before buying, I would say go for the 2014

Since you're buying sight unseen, I'd go with the '14 unless the '07 is way more visually appealing. None of the spec differences b/w the two absolutely preclude the possibility of the 2007 being the sweeter axe, but you can't know which one is from a computer screen -- the '14s carry a little price premium, so if they're close in price, and neither is more visually compelling and the 2014 is cleaner, then buy the 2014

The 2007 had the secret stash of wood that everyone talks about.

It was special mahogany from Honduras area, deep in the jungle.

I would pick the one that plays like butter.

With majority on this one....sight unseen...go with the 14.
If you can play them both get the one with the mojo

2007 because of it's Madagascar rosewood fret board. Closest thing to Brazilian.

Neither year will guarantee tonal superiority, that is an internet fable. And I own guitars from both 2014 and 2007. The historical accuracy improvements of the 2014 does not automatically mean its a better sounding guitar.

2007 was one of the first years the good wood expression was circulated, its a marketing tool, not anything more.

If I had to make your move without knowing what guitar sounds better to me, I would look at the top. Because that's what sells on the internet, we buy with the eyes, and if your top is so-so, in a world of many great looking tops, you will have a harder time moving it down the line if you ever decide to sell.

So many guitars are sold with comments about how great a guitar sounds, there are no duds in the classifieds.

We have been led down the road of tonal superiority one year at a time from Gibsons recent historical accuracy agenda.

Many more experienced than me will point out that every guitar stands on its own. I have LP's from the nineties and eightes that blow away other years that are supposedly better, "good wood" , " true-er than last year", and whatever the next version of reinventing the Les Paul Gibson decides to put forth.

If you can play it then the situation will take care of itself.

I’ll throw in w/ the 2014 lot. If only purely from a spec perspective. If you’re one who keeps things stock, the CBs in the 14 are much better than the BBs in the 07.

That said, obviously the best sounding/playing guitar is the one to choose, but if buying online then that’s not an option. THAT SAID, if buying online there are tons of other guitars to choose from so why limit yourself to just looking at these 2?

2014-for the specs-for mojo 07 but I would grab the 14 myself.

I have had some and played many 14s and all of them were great guitars, very consistent. Post 2013 Historics are great!
