My 2006 r7 historic Goldie is the first year vos was introduced. It sounds phenomenal. But the wiring.. is not historic.

What are your thoughts about changing the wiring to 50s? Or keep it 'original'

I don't have a strong preference for either. I can learn to love either. I mainly played blues and classic rock.

If you'd rewired the 1 joint (per pickup) you had to change to get 50s instead of posting this thread then you would already know the answer personally......which is infinitely more useful than a bunch of other's views on the subject.

I'd personally change out the whole harness for 500k audio pots and pio caps.

Then I'd experiment with the wiring.

I personally like 50s wiring but some don't.

Either way, the factory pots and caps are lacking on an '06.

As suggested above replacing the harness is the better option. 50's wiring gives improved clarity and flexibility, but to achieve the point of doing it really requires audio taper pots. (For eg linear tone pots do nothing except between 0-3). However for those who've been happy playing 'all on 10' for the past few decades pot sweep simply don't matter. It comes down to user style / preference.

Had a Japan limited Casino rewired for 50’s wiring 2 days ago.

It sounds maybe 5% quieter than before,
but it also made it sound more defined/3D. Very hard to describe the difference, but it’s noticeably different.

If it sounds phenomenal why change it. Some of this stuff defies logic:hmm:
Yep lol.
I think it’s just one of those things if it’s bugging you, you just gotta try it once.
Its not a hollow body so it’s easy enough to revert back.

You only live once after all.
