Does anyone know a bit about them...and what on Earth is one worth?

Did Gibson ever make any 1 piece maple top Les Pauls back in 1959?

I have only seen one other one-piece top R9. It belongs to a member here, retrosurfer1959. To me, it is not worth anymore than a regular R9.

Nice touch but I don't believe it to be all that more desirable on the market. Nice touch though. I am not aware of any from '58 to '60. Doesn't mean there wasn't just don't think so...

Here is a '68 Custom from 2008 with a one piece top, made of all maple, limited to 25 and featured in the book...The Les Paul Legacy...and didn't fetch a big number on the secondary market so...

I know of a locally owned '04 Brock Burst R9 with a one piece top.

Over the years I have seen maybe 5 - 10 Historics with one piece tops. Most were R9's. From memory one was an R8.

They exist but there are not too many.

For me, worth no more or no less..............if anything, probably less because I am used to looking at a Book or a Slip Match.

My 2c FWIW.
