Hi. There`a 2003 R6 with braz board for sale in my area. While it tickles my GAS, I haven`t got a clue to what these are currently going for. It`s got thobak MXV 55/56 PUPs, and someone has put a Bigsby on it. The case shows signs of a life on the road, but the guitar looks good for a 14 yaer old axe. Does anyone have an opinon about the value of this?

Thanx

With those mods I wouldn't pay more than 3g's for it in excellent shape even with a braz board.

Similar sentiment as above, maybe $3500 if it's in really good shape and sounds excellent. Braz guitars don't fetch what they used to

I saw one for sale recently and I believe they were asking $5500-6000 range.
The braz seems to inflate the prices by $3k.

Very interesting. Do you by any chance have a link to that ad?

Pre mods - your looking at 4-4500...values on the BRW gold tops have evened/dropped a bit - unlike the flame tops, aside from the serial # they are all the same looks wise..so much easier to peg a value on them

With the mods, I agree - its a tough sell - an R6 isn't for everyone...great guitar, but the buyers who "demand" BRW are probably more likely to be looking for buckers - just the market your going after. The Bigsby hurts value - its reversible, but will effect condition of the guitar itself. Same with pu's - not that the swap didn't help the guitar probably - but it took away from the "collectibility"

Yea - 3-3500 is probably fair market value in the condition described ex-/excellent (swirls, worming on the back, some light wear but no large dents/certainly no divots or major flaws). Could be a great pickup for the right buyer - but I wouldn't bank on more than high 3's - been plenty of 2003 R7's sell just at/above that price point - and those are more desirable than what you describe.

Its at Wildwood guitars under the Historic Les Paul section, and it's a '54 not a '56, but it is Braz and $6k

This is a player not a collectible IMHO. So collectible comments are off the Table & a moot point.

The Throbak upgrade is desirable & certainly worth having vs the stock P90's.

The Bigsby is personal, either you like them or you don't.

If the Guitar is a good one & the weight range is about right, with these upgrades then I would say $3,200 up to $4,000..........not having seen it.

Bigsby is reversible so if you don't like it take it off.

P90's are killer, most don't like the noise because they don't understand using the Volume Knob etc. most want Humbuckers............because most want Humbuckers.

My 2c FWIW & IMHO.

I was gonna say $2,000 to maybe $2,500 for Braz. (just my opinion)
Bigsbys kill value. I'd say -30%.

Timmeh, your valuations always crack me up.
Although, this time I agree with one thing......a Bigsby kills the resale of any guitar.

The guitar in question here is worth $3500-$3750, to me.
But, I wouldn't be a player on this one at any price.

What do you disagree with this time, the 30% bit? I recall reading in Vintage Guitar Magazine that factory Bigsbys decrease value by 30% and 50% if installed afterwards. These fall into the rare/collectible category and I went with 30% just because 50% seems too high. $4,500 (top end) - 30% = $3,150 and add a couple bucks for the Throbaks assuming the originals are also included. So there, I actually have a source of some sort for this evaluation and my numbers are in line with other posters. Suck it. :laugh2:

I said that I agree on the Bigsby devaluing the guitar, sorry if I wrote it in English instead of Canadian. :slap:

You are so tight with money that if we put a piece of coal in your butt crack in the am, we would be able to pull a diamond out by the days end. :laugh2:
