I think the guitar gets a decent Pagey tone. What do you think? Of course, due to the youtube police, you may have to try to play the video from more than one site! I must make the usual caveat. I just learned this one by ear within the last 3 weeks (i.e., I could have learned parts of it wrong). Before that, it had been about 3 months since the last time I played....so I am a little rusty.

In the first video, I removed Page's solo by replacing that part of the backing track with the intro. That way you can hear just my solo during the solo. (I play on top of Page during the rhythm parts.) In the second video, I included Page's solo, but I put my guitar's track in the left side of the balance and I put the backing track in the right side. So instead of playing on top of Page, they are now side by side.

So does the Stinger sound a little Pagey with those vintage pots & PAFs?

No Page solo:

In case the above video gets blocked in the USA, try this one:

With Page solo side by side with mine:

(I do have a version on Photobucket like the one above but they converted it to mono instead of stereo & so it makes me play on top of Page!)

Thanks! Yeah, those pickups really capture the pre-1973 Page tone pretty well.

Very good, funny how the "stereo" solo reminds me of Tony Iommi. Your tone is so close it's not even funny. When I watched the first video, I couldn't tell that it was not Page. The second vid let me hear the differences, Page just has a buzzier top end. But, man that was an excellent job!! That guitar oozes Page tone, I'd say that set up is a keeper!

Thanks guy. I have another braz R0 (not a stinger) that has a little more top end / trebly sound. It sounds a little more like 1973+ Page. Sounds pretty good on this song. I was thinking about making another video with that guitar possibly another video with my Page #1. We will see....it takes a lot of time to put these things together! :)

What setting did you play with on the Marshall? I hear a nice hum before your playing?
