2001 Les Paul Junior - a "Reissue" ??

Just bought a 2001 Gibson Les Paul Junior. I've read everything I can find on this year model Junior. Some have referred to it as a "reissue" while others have not.

It's not a custom shop (it doesn't have the shelf at the neck joint) but it does have the angled wraparound bridge behind the P90 (not the straight compensated wraparound).

Anybody have any idea if the 2001 non-custom shop Junior is considered a "reissue" or just another production run of a Junior??

My experience has been that the angled bridge means historic shop.

I personally have not seen a custom shop without a shelf. IIRC I have heard of some regular models having the slant bridge though. What is the finish? That alone can determine what it is.
Of course Pix are needed for a more accurate assessment.

I have a 2001 Historic Junior - it has the shelf at the neck joint. Other 2001 Gibson USA Juniors that I've seen do not have the shelf. Back then they were offered as a regular production model as well as a Historic. From what I've read from owners, the Non-Historic Juniors are still very nice guitars. Also, the slant bridge on the Historics is not nearly as slanted as on the original vintage Juniors. Here's a pic of mine.

You are right. It looks like a production not Custom shop. Nice guitar. Congrats and enjoy.

I have a 2001 Les Paul Junior that has had me wondering the same things. It has no shelf, but does have offset tailpiece studs. When I bought it (used) it had a lightning-bolt tailpiece which makes no sense on offset studs. I replaced it with a period-correct nickel-plated aluminum tailpiece & it is a killer machine now. For some reason, Wikipedia says that the LP Jr. was out of production between 1960 & 2015 but I beg to differ
