Today was my first time playing out with the new Ultra II.

I removed the battery yesterday - just for simplicity. I wanted to keep things simple today - just straight LP controls.

It sounded and performed great. The pickups are a little low on output, but sounded good. I did get some feedback when playing some rock rhythm with distortion. Not sure if that was the good kind or bad. Gotta keep things under control when playin at church. :)

I did notice that it is a little neck heavy. I had to lift up a bit while playing and it would slide down between songs if I let go.

Maybe next week I will try out some of the Nanomag...

Sweet looking guitar man, I got one that's kinda similar. Except mine has all black hardware.

One of the really nice points of these guitars is the Nanomag pickup and being able to blend it with the humbuckers. I think that you'll enjoy that aspect of it, but the batteries will have to go back in as they are what power the nanomag system.

I almost bought one of those off a guy on craigslist, but it was lightweight compared to my other LP's (I don't gig, and actually prefer 10lbs), and it felt wrong to me, it felt dirty, almost blasphemes... :laugh2:

Yep, no doubt they are lighter because of the chambering. I look at the Ultra II as simply a different guitar, LP shaped of course and with some of the LP mojo, but definitely a different guitar with a different set of characteristics. It does sound good though...I like that open, airy, woody tone that a lot of jazz guys have, and by mixing the humbuckers with the nanomag and rolling the tone off it gets that tone.
