Hello everybody,
I just acquired a 1994 LPCP. Super sweet, including the replaced pickups.
I know they were supposed to come with the 490s (which I’m not really a fan of), but this one has a Seymour Duncan JB in the Bridge and a mystery pickup in the neck.
I’d really like to know what this pickup is.
I’m guessing it’s something along the lines of a ‘57 Classic/Classic Plus, but I would really appreciate any input from people who are more knowledgeable.
This pickup:
- is unmarked, no Gibson USA embossing, no numbers, no ink stamp, etc. I’m assuming the PAF sticker came off...
- reads at around 8.6k, a little too hot for a normal ‘57 Classic? Therefore my lean towards the ‘57 Classic Plus?
- has wooden spacers (not that that’s a huge clue...)
- doesn’t have the holes in the backplate like a 490
I could be completely off and this could be some random pickup built by a random person, but from what I see, I think it looks like a Gibson product.
(Sorry about the potato cam photos)
Thanks everyone in advance!
Ken
