It is what is known as a PreHistoric. It does not have a long tenon. Custom Shop Edition decals go all the way back to at least 1982. The Historic Collection started in 1991. But the Historics we typically talk about started soon after your guitar was made, in mid 1993. If yours was a "True" 1993 Historic, the serial number would be 7 3xxx.

Two periods of reissues that are very confusing is early 80s and early 90s.

In mid 1993 with the ones with the serial numbers Year of reissue, year made xxxx

So if your SN was 7 3xxx, it would have the long tenon. If it is 3 xxxx it would not.

While this isn’t a Custom Shop Long Tenon Historic Reissue,
it may still be a Reissue. The Custom Shop while located at
the regular Gibson factory from 1991 until October 1993 made
The Les Paul Classic, The Les Paul Classic Plus, The Les Paul Reissue,
and The Les Paul R6 in 1993.
You would need to look in the Pickup Cavity, as most (but not all)
would have been stamped.

I think his is a Custom Black Beauty. I could be wrong, that is just the impression I got by the statement in the OP.

Like these 1993 Customs:

Okay Artie I have a couple of stumpers for you. I have no idea. They have the Historic Collection decals of the late 1991-early 1994 era. And yet the serial numbers seemingly do not fit the expected Prehistoric format. They fit the year 2000 Custom R4 Black Beauty and the 2000 Custom R7 Black Beauty format. Or a 1994 and 1997 Classic serial number format. I am STUMPED:

Yes, yours is referred to as a prehistoric. The Historic Collection Decal and the Custom Shop Edition decal have each been used on them. (some have no decal) By early 1994 they stopped using them altogether on reissues, but still used some sort of decal on other not reissue guitars from the Custom Shop.

They stopped using decals on the reissues because the Japanese thought it was no "historically accurate" which is TRUE of course.
