I have the oppurtunity to purchase a 1990 Gibson Les Paul Standard, ebony, off CL. From serial number it was produced January 24 of 1990. Everything seems to check out, binding, hardware, body cavities etc...
The headstock logo however has the solid b and o, no gaps. I've googled pictures and seen gapped and ungapped logos for 1990 models. Is this correct or are there that many fakes? From what I've read, the headstock logo should have gapped b and o.
I emailed Gibson USA but they were of no help.
Any knowledge is welcome, sorry if this topic has been beat to death.
I've attached a pic of headstock...

Never beaten to death when it's info on a new purchase! No worries!

While I cannot attest to a 90's logo directly, it does look a lot like my 82 so I've included a pic to show the similarities. It has the sharp pointed notch on top and proper shape and tuner rings. TRC and script. The word MODEL has the right spacing... Mine has the closed Gibson logo too. I think it's real enough.

I'd give it a thumbs up, but wait for more smarter folk to chime in!

Here is a close up of my (dusty) 93 Les Paul Studio headstock. It has surprisingly dark lettering compared to my 2011 Traditional

OP
i would accept the prior posts as acceptable, you will find a great amount of knowledge here that you may not find anywhere else on the web...

i have a 90 & 93 studio...i gotta admit i like the 90 a bit more but any early 90's LP's usually are built well and are bargains for the price...ebony boards are a big plus also

great find ...buy it

welcome to MLP
