Ok after playing it for a while, I'm going to do it and lose the PCB.

Definitely got a slightly dodgy ground on the neck pickup, which is no surprise as the pots have been changed out at some point and it wasn't done very well (looks like and underpowered soldering iron was used).

I want to put the same size pots back in and use my original knobs, so is my only option Alphas?

Did a bit of a search about re-wiring and that was the only brand mentioned that would fit without reaming. Anyone else put Alpha pots in?

I measured the pots in my LS and they were way below 500K. Definitely made an upgrade with new pots and 50's style wiring!

I used Alphas. They are not bad, IMO. Order two extra, then measure them prior to install. 500K or higher goes to neck position. 450K or so are OK in the bridge.

Thanks guys - good advice.

I was looking inside the control cavity again last night, and realised that I will probably need to replace the switch wiring as well.

It has the small 4-core wire connecting to pins on the PCB. It doesn't look too amenable to splitting out to reach the new pots.

That switch will be opposite of your normal switchcraft.

You combine the two middle prongs between the neck and bridge out as it is the output and the single backside is the ground.

Thanks, I'll check that out.
