Haven't seen of these before. Pretty cool!

No volute... in 1982. That is a year before the volute was removed from Standards and Customs - correct?

It's for sale in NL:
€ 2.950,00

No volutes started to go away mid to late 82.

That is different…wonder how does it play and sound?

Weblink to for sale ad inserted in first post.

Translated description:
Rare and all original Gibson Les Paul Spirit II /Cherry Burst from 1982 in excellent condition. Rare and short-lived version of a Les Paul Junior DC with beautiful flamed maple top. Two of the desired "Tim Shaw" double-white humbuckers and a factory Schaller 2-piece wrap-around bridge. A real lightweight at only 3.48kg and the medium-sized C-shaped neck makes it very comfortable to play

They also sold an identical and also made in Kalamazoo version of these as the Epiphone Spirit. I had one for a while but could not bond with it because the neck was way too thin for me. They were exaxctly the same guitar, just different names on the headstock, and it was cool as hell. Wish I could have been comfortable on it, I would still have it.

I have one of those spirit I pickups. A Shaw 1959 les paul reissue.
Nice guitars would love to own one but not for that price.
They originally were epiphone and on the early ones you can still see that under the Gibson logo. They did not sell well as epiphone so they got rebranded Gibson.
