Yeah it’s crazy, it’ll be 41 yrs old on the 15th of April and it’s barely got a mark on it.

I spoke to the dealer and he said the guy had bought it new but he was really a bass player so it pretty much went unplayed for most of its life.

I just did a search for a birth year guitar on a whim, I really wasn’t wanting to be spending anymore just now but when I seen it I couldn’t pass it up.

It’s definitely a keeper.

Congrats, man. That Wine Red is really nice.

I recently got an '81 Custom myself, and it's the best LP I've ever had.

It's my second Norlin (I've also got an '82 Standard), and I agree that the Norlin era gets a bad rap. Both of mine are just excellent guitars.

I would’ve spent a $htload on that guitar…absolutely bananas
Ha ha well I can tell you that it wasn’t cheap, but I suppose the nice thing about a guitar like this is it’s done all of its depreciating by now so if my situation changes I should be able to get my money back.

I have no intentions of selling it though, it’s as close as I’m going to get to a vintage Les Paul and it is a tone monster.

Congratulations, looks stunning. Welcome to the WR LPC club!

Did it come from a shop in Birmingham?

Little guitar shop it’s called, confusingly there’s 2 places with the same name one is in Birmingham but this one is a bit further south towards Brighton.

A guy called Kris, who was a pleasure to deal with he was happy to answer all my questions and sent it 24hr delivery.

Nice. The chrome hardware with black, I’d never get bored of looking at that.

Awesome, yes I saw that when I was looking. And 81 is a YOB for me too! It looked phenomenal.

Congrats, and I’m glad it’s a good one.

They told me it was nickel at the shop! The pickups covers don't look like it, but the tuners (the weird ones with the little cranks that fold out) definitely do.

I have it and it’s unbelievable, once I got over the little frets and the wider neck which was a bit of a shock it’s fantastic.

It’s so articulate even at high gain, yet it’s beautiful clean and of course it’s got massive sustain.

It feels very much like a premium guitar, really solid and a looker to boot I’m very impressed.

I have no idea why norlin era guitars have gotten such a bad press, this one is a tone monster.
I love my 1976 Black Beauty. There’s some real gems from Norlin era that get overlooked just for the era they’re made.

Yours looks awesome! I love wine red customs. That’s the color I originally wanted but not easy to find. Great score! :dude:
