This 40 year old Ibanez is basically your vintage Gibson ES-335 at a third of the price. It’s in what could be described as “light relic” condition with a few dings and scratches and some light checking in the finish. The hardware and pickups have aged beautifully.

The pickups, tuners, electronics, are original. The only things that have been replaced are the Sure Grip knobs and the strap buttons. Three of the original knobs are included and are in excellent condition, so if you track down one replacement, you can put it back to original. The pickguard and bracket are in the case and can easily be put back on. The frets (on the ebony fingerboard) show almost no wear. There are some light scratches but no divots.

The worst damage is on the headstock edges. There are 2 on the front and one on the back. I’ve included pictures of both. The previous owner tried to cover up the front ones with black. There’s also a small dent on the back of the neck, behind the 7th fret. As I mentioned, there are some light cracks in the finish. A couple on the top and a few along the sides. It also has that typical finish crack along the seam at the neck joint. It’s just the finish and the joint is rock-solid.

The original case is in decent shape. All the hinges and clasps are intact and the lining is in good shape. The only reason I haven’t included a photo is because a previous owner went crazy with some stickers and I’m in the middle of removing them. I will post once I have it presentable.

I would be interested in trades for Gibson electrics, USA Fenders, or Supro guitars. I don’t mind a little cash going either way but I’m not looking to add $2000 for a Custom Shop Strat or a Les Paul.

$995 plus shipping and PayPal.

The AS80 and AS100 were awesome guitars.
My buddy had an AS80... swapped in a set of Duncan pickups for him and did a setup.
Played super sweet.

Had a question about the pickups because these came with both Super 58 and Super 70 pickups. I pulled them and they are 58s.

And since pickguard on/off can be enough to start a fistfight ‘round these parts...

Vintage Ibanez Super 58's are one of the best sounding pickups I've ever had the chance to play. In a guitar like this, I can only imagine!

Well, aren’t you in luck!
Now you don’t have to imagine. ;-)
