1980 Gibson KZ-II made in Kalamazoo

We have a super cool and super rare 1980 GIBSON KZ-II!!

It’s a cross between a Les Paul special and a SG.

These were all made in Kalamazoo. The KZs were made around the same time as the Firebrands and THE PAUL and some other obscure models that came out of 225 parsons st.

It mostly stock. I did have a refret done with a new bone nut and medium jumbo wire. Less than 5 hours play time on the new frets. I took out a tone pit and installed a kill switch ( I have the original pot). Original Shaw DIRTYFINGERS. Factory tailpiece, bridge, tuners, pots, toggle, jack, finish, case.

The Shaws sound incredible!!! And with the new frets and nut, it plays like butter!!!!

Very lightweight. Well under 8 lbs. neck is a 60s.

Wonderful access to the upper register for soloing!!! Very comfortable guitar to play!!!
