Any info on these out there? I have come across one locally and have had a hard time tracking down anything further than a few old reverb listings.

They are not listed in any catalog. The serial number of the one I'm looking at is 089001. I know the first digit indicates the year 1980 but other than that have not found anything deciphering the rest of the serial number.

This particular one is only 3 serials away

Here are a few others I've come across

I have come across lots about the Burny and Greco models but not much in the way of build specs or pickups.

What would the value of one of these be?

I've seen a few for sale in Japan here and there. The 1980 serial seems correct since it's a 7 digit number. Interestingly the 6 digit ones used in the 70s, the third number is the year.

I'm sure they are made at the former Matsumoku factory like other Arias from that time period. It will be pre-CNC so made by hand, which has a certain charm to me.

Pickups could be DiMarizio but could also be something made for Aria or someone could have changed them.

If you like it and the price seems right, it should be a nice guitar. I've considered buying one myself just because of being such a Page fan, but no doubt it is a larger guitar and I'm not a larger person lol.

I personally love it, and if I had the cash.... I'd have one. But alas, a flat wallet and worse back, means I couldn't have one.

I went and took a look at the one for sale locally and snagged it for $700 with the original case.

It's a bit of a player's guitar at this point. Story goes someone stupidly routed the electronic cavity out to operate the 2 necks via foot pedal. Gibson headstock veneers appear to have been installed directly over the original headstock face.

The owner I got it from had the wiring restored to the 3 switch configuration. Both necks have been refretted, have tusq nuts and have Gotoh 381 tuners. the pickups have been swapped to JB/jazz in the 6 and 490/498 in the 12.

Pics to come soon. I am ecstatic to pick this up for the price.

That's a great deal with the case! They generally sell for close to $1k in Japan without a case and more with one.
