Hi all, just thought I would post this here. It's has a few mods but it plays like a dream. It's in excellent condition to boot. I still have all the original parts should I need to put it back as it was (save the nut and frets of course :)) but I just love it like this.

1979 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe.
Genuine Gibson 60's - 70's tuners, knobs and truss rod cover
Aged bone nut (original cracked)
It's had one Refret (Dec last year)
Faber Tone Lock tail piece and bridge.
CTS 500K pots.
RC 90 Pickups with ThroBak covers

I am going to switch out the pickups to either ThroBak's or Monty's (my current thinking) though I am still looking.

The pics are pre the truss rod cover, new nut and refret.

Thanks for looking.

Cheers

Rich

Isn't that a LP Pro Deluxe with ebony fretboard?

(Sorry, but i really can't tell from the pics whether it is RW or ebony)

Nice guitar, no matter what - and if going by the '78 Deluxe (sold) and the '79 Custom (still here) i have owned, it is probably a good guitar with a slightly snappier acoustic tone than a mahogany neck would give you.

At least both the LP's had/have a crisp clear quality to their tone that is absent in the mahogany necked LP's i have played.

Congrats on it anyway :)

Thanks guys. Its a Delixe and that is a very dark mahogany board. The beck is 3 piece maple snd yes its a lot snappier than my R8. It has a great acoustic tone.

I think you are confused....these did not come with a mahogany board.

Post some good close-up shots, we will figure it out.

I'm thinking Deluxe pro here - ebony board. Even with the light glancing off it there seems no streaks or grain visible.
