Hey i asked this in the other main forum but thought it may be more suited here. Im looking for info on the 1974 custom in white. Ive always been a huge RR fan and i would love to own one. Just wondered how difficult are they to find ? Im not after a mint condition i mean it has to be reasonable but a few knocks and scratches here and there will not bother me. And also how expensive are they ? I saw one on eddie vegas for $3000 which i thought was reasonable however the only one I've seen for sale here in the uk was £3500 which is about $5500 which seems pretty expensive and is a bit more than i can afford.

I'm a Randy Rhoads fan as well. In addition to my 74 LPC which I converted to an RR clone, I also have an RR sig model as well as one more lesser known one that may work for you. Earlier this year Gibson released a LPC 1974 Reissue in Aspen White. This is basically the same guitar as the RR sig model but without the brass parts or RR serial number. I bought the brass parts and engraved the pickguard to convert it into an RR clone. These were not made in large numbers but it's a chance to buy a 74 Reissue and have everything brand new. The prices are a bit less than the dealer prices I'm seeing for used 74's. I haven't. Checked recently but Music Zoo had one in stock. I bought mine slightly used btw. This may give you another option unless you are set on an original 74 only. These reissues have the pancake body, Volute, etc...
Good luck with your search.

I kind of had my heart set on an original i was considering the RR sig but the only sig in the uk I've seen it in had a £6000 price tag on it so an original would be considerably cheaper !

I can understand that, you guys get hammered with pricing outside the USA. Nothing wrong with wanting an original 74. I would think the 74 Reissue in Aspen White would be cheaper than the RR Sig and it is pretty much the same guitar. Anyway, for an original 74 I suppose you just have to keep watching e-Bay as well as the classifieds. They turn up occasionally.
