Up for sale is my 1971 Gibson ES-335 in walnut, serial number 112625. I'm the 3rd owner of guitar and have the original sales receipt. The guitar was purchased from Melody Music in Englewood, Colorado in April 1972 as a leftover 1971 model. The guitar was owned by the same person until his passing when it was sold by the owner's widow to the second owner. I purchased the guitar from that gentleman. The guitar is in very good, clean condition. There are some small dings, chips, light scratches and swirls but nothing extreme. There is no finish checking or cracking. The finish is still bright and glossy. There are no headstock breaks or repairs. The guitar has Schaller tuners installed at one point but the holes were plugged and Kluson style tuners were reinstalled. The pickups are original to this guitar. I can see some mustard colored capacitors in the guitar and do not know if they're original, I was under the impression that this era of 335 used Sprague Black Beauties but I'm not positive. The frets and fretboard show some light wear in the open chord positions but the frets are by no means worn down, there's still a lot of material there. The neck is a medium to full "C" shape. It starts off at a medium thickness and gets pretty full around the 12th fret. The nut width does not feel overly narrow. The guitar weighs in at a lightweight 7.7 lbs on my digital scale. This one is nice and resonant! It's warm, woody and hollow sounding. Amplified, the pickups give a quasi sounding single coil tonality, very clean and clear but still very thick. This one will ship in it's original black hardshell case with purple plush lining. The case has one broken latch. The original sales receipt will be included. I'm looking for $2995 shipped in the CON US. I would take a partial trade for an original 1970's Mesa Boogie Mark I Super 60. Thanks!
