My buddy recently aquired this SG Melody Maker through a deceased relative. What would be a fair offer and selling price?
It has early gen chainsaw case, and has been modded with Grover? Style tuners, humbucker, and wrap around bridge. Headstock repair seems solid. Any info on finding out iit's value is greatly appreciated.

MY fair value of that guitar would be $1000 - $1200.

The market would probably go a little higher these days.

Ten years ago, you would have had trouble giving that away.

Cool guitar. Butchered. Not a great investment, IMHO.

The waffle back tuners, pickup, and chainsaw case are probably worth $1000 on their own.

I could see that going between 700 and 1000 tops. Changed pickup, bridge and a headstock break make this a bit of a hard sell. If it’s a player, keep it and enjoy it!

I know the market has gone up a bit, but for frame of reference, scored this '67 a few years ago, with no breaks, for $450. :dunno:
