Wow, was watching that auction and didn't even make the connection! Somebody got snookered...

9 1942 was one of those rare finds, an untouched unmolested burst that literally came out from under the bed. I got to scope out that guitar very thoroughly when Dave first got it (I have lots of pix). In fact I was the first one to take the back plates off, they were literally stuck to the lacquer. The finish has faded a great deal since Dave bought it, which is sort of a shame to be honest, but it is available for anyone to see at the store. There are a lot of bursts tucked away and hardly ever see the light of day, or for anyone else to see.
