There is a time in life when the Stars Line-Up in Space and a Voice from Heaven says, "Merry Christmas".

You may never find another Lux as clean as this one.

Even the stitching in the leather handle is white from the factory as day one.

This proves covering your amps really helps preserve them for long the term.

56 Years in a box.

Well..... Between this, the close to mint Marshall heads / cabs, the box of NOS glass and all the other stuff you just happened to find would have to make you one of the luckiest guys on the planet!! :applause:

Congrats on that heirloom of an amp! If you ever want to sell it please let me know.

Hey Six, that speaker was made, as you know, Christmas week, 1958!

An amp that's been sitting around unused for 56 years. That can't be good. It may not work properly. I'd worry about those caps drying out.

Sweet score man. That's a find of a lifetime. Surely a collectors piece. I'd be afraid to play it even. I'd sell it to a collector for a pretty penny. But it might do better to keep it. Helluva conversation piece! Damn don't you have enough ridiculously cool amps?

I only have a couple amps.

Thanks for the kind words you guys, you know this amp will soon have new Sprague Atom Caps slipped inside the original Astron Brown Paper Cap Covers to keep the old school look.

This Deluxe has the new Sprague Atom Caps inside the original Cap Covers, they look original but the entire amp has the new caps.

This big box amp has the 6087 rectifier and Sylvania 6V6GTY RCA command 5751 3-mica in V1,161 Mullard in V2. This amp has the ZZ Top tone with the speaker and the 5751 in V1./

Same with this 1956 SmallBox, it also has all new caps. I use the GE 5-Star 6087 rectifiers, they have more of a GZ34 type sag and the Industrial grade 5Y3GT. I also have some Mullard CV511 (Brimmer) power tubes in this one, I have the RCA
12AY7 in V1 and a 163 Mullard in V2.

Here is a cool old Bill-Of-Sale for a 1956 Deluxe bought in 1956, it was 129.50 back then and the guy also bought a Les Paul in the same deal. The Les was 225.00, so it must have been a Jr.

Just a cool pic to copy and save.

I know, I know.

The Lux w/Blue speaker is set-up for Buckers and the Lux w/Jensen P12Q is set-up for Single Coils, for the most part. The Blue just kills in the lux amp.

I'm pretty sure the new Jan 1959 Deluxe has the coveted Triad #108 Output transformer. That is the Upright plastic bobbin OT, my favorite OT in the Deluxe Tweed Amps. Around the 2nd quarter of 59 Fender switched tot he Schumacher OT's.

My little smallbox 1956 has a matching extension speaker. The bottom cab follows the wedge design of the top amp cab so the ext. speaker cab is wider at the bottom ( 11-1/2") and tapers to meet with the bottom of the amp cab. In other words, the side view looks like a perfect wedge and the original speakers are the P12Q Jensens. This stack was a 950.00 BIN from the original owner about 15 years ago. I got his Fender Slide Guitar as well, a lap type with the green felt on the bottom. A student Slide I think they call it.

That new 1959 Big Box is a dream come true, the condition looks amazing.
I love the 5E3 Amps, everyone should own one.
